Great Job Sheree. Well done on the website. Lots of information and great links.

I want to sound a note of caution to Metis bro's and sis', regarding complacency. Even now, there are forces working in school systems to downgrade the amount and quality of services that many of our children have enjoyed over the years. The official reasons are forever "downsizing", even when the economy is slowly strengthening. To believe that there are not forces at work that still are working against recognition of rights and access is naivete. I've heard it said that our own MNBC is an unwitting accomplice, by making recognition of ancestry so difficult to qualify that there is only a fraction of BC Gov't. estimates that there are over 60 thousand "Metis" in the province. One step away from our first Metis ancestor, my friends, was a First Nations person. On that side of the equation, the battle against Bill C-31 is gaining momentum. Aboriginal is aboriginal; the root begets the fruit. We are as close to our First Nations bro's and sis' as "Urban" Aboriginals are to the both of us. I hope our children have clearer sight on this than is demonstrated in today's laws, programs, and incentives. We may have to put out energy to keep from landing on the "discarded" pile, despite the great work being done by many wonderful Metis people and organizations, including MNBC...
Hi to all my Waceya friends and those yet to meet. I've made a point to let Sheree know that, as an original Waceya member, I'm very happy with all the wonderful family-oriented things Waceya has done, and wish I had the time and "space" to be more involved.
I want to encourage members to check out my song, "Waceya" written back in the early days, but I keep working on it to make it better. It's now been placed, along with some of my other songs, on the Reverbnation website (as above), a fairly major site. My songs can be enjoyed and/or downloaded for free. Why? Because they're Priceless! Nanaskamon!
Thank you for having metis specific crafts for kids on your site. I work in a Metis run youth center and have been having difficuly finding Metis specific crafts for the kids. I happened on your website quite by accident, but was instantly pleased that I did. Once agan, Thanks!

Tansi,
Well...thanks to Maxine Lavallee for reminding me about your website today - and for inviting me to sign your guest book. Your website is really nice, the design is beautiful and the event calendar is very useful and well done. What a great resource for Waceya members, as well as Metis in the Lower Mainland - nice job! I hope you do post photos - it would be nice to see that Sun Run photo you were talking about today Maxine.
